Short answer: yes. I was initially skeptical about this method. However, after trying it out, I became convinced of its effectiveness and numerous benefits...
Dry Carpet Cleaning method
With this method, you're not using any water. You have a special chemical you're putting on the carpet, again, either by applying it with the sprayer or spreading it down manually.
It is an interesting process. It's almost like a mulch. You put it down on the carpet and let it sit again. It has a chemical reaction with the carpet, and you're using a machine very similar to the carpet vacuum cleaner that also brushes. So basically, it's brushing this chemical in. By agitating the carpet and brushing it in, it picks up the dirt between the loops of the carpet. Then you need to do a good vacuuming, and you are basically taking all the dirt out.
I was very skeptical about this method when I heard about it over 25 years ago, like how you can clean the carpet without using water. It's likely not a good process, but we've done it at a few buildings, and it's very effective. It is more expensive because of the chemicals, but not by much.
The good part about it is you can use it in a high-traffic area as well. Where there is constant traffic, imagine airports again when you cannot close things down because it's open 24/7.
With the hot water extraction, you're making the carpet wet. People can go on the carpet, they will go on the regular floor, they could slip and fall. With the dry cleaning method, you don't have that risk because the carpet is not wet.
It's not slippery. It is minimal downtime and it is ready to walk on as soon as you finish the carpet cleaning process.
The Main Benefit
So, the main reason someone would need to do it is because they have a 24/7 operation or little downtime to do a hot water extraction. You will get similar results without interrupting the flow of people in your operation.
